Alibaba releases open-source Qwen-Image-2.1 model
Alibaba just launched Qwen-Image-2.1, an open-source AI model for both making and editing images. It's lightweight for this kind of software—just 7 billion parameters—which means it can run on older graphics cards. The model natively supports transparency, editing specific sections, and compositing up to 10 source images. Alibaba says Qwen-Image-2.1 outperforms Google’s Nano Banana 2.0, but that's based on its own benchmarks.
