Anthropic offers free AI vulnerability scans for open source
Anthropic has launched OSS Scanner, a free opt-in service that uses its AI models, including Claude Mythos, to scan open-source projects for security vulnerabilities. Project maintainers can enroll by submitting setup details on GitHub. Reports are generated entirely by AI without human review, enabling rapid and frequent scans but increasing the chance of errors. Selected projects receive ongoing, automated security checks at no cost.
- OSS Scanner uses Anthropic's most advanced AI models
- Reports are fully AI-generated with no human review
- Open-source maintainers opt in via a GitHub pull request
- Selection may follow criteria similar to Google's OSS-Fuzz
- Reports could contain errors due to lack of human oversight
