Cohere launches Embed 5 for fast, flexible AI search
Cohere just launched Embed 5, a pair of AI models for turning documents, images, and mixed inputs into search-friendly vectors. You use the 'Pro' version to index data for quality, and the cheaper, speedier 'Fast' variant to handle user queries — without needing to reprocess your files. Cohere says retrieval quality stays very close to Pro alone. Both support over 100 languages and can compress storage down to 3.2 GB for 100 million items.
