Google DeepMind launches Gemma 4 open AI models
Google DeepMind just released Gemma 4, a family of open-source AI models meant for startups and developers. These models use the same core research as DeepMind’s flagship Gemini family, but are available under an Apache 2.0 license and designed to be efficient across different hardware. Gemma 4 comes in five versions, including lightweight models for phones and edge devices, plus larger options for serious AI workloads. You can mix them with commercial Gemini models as needed.
