Google lets outside AI manage your smart home
Google is now letting third-party AI bots—like Claude and ChatGPT—control your Google Home devices and access their event history, thanks to its new Model Context Protocol (MCP). The feature is initially available to US Google Home Premium Advanced users at $20 a month or $200 a year. Google says it has safety limits: your agent can’t unlock doors, but privacy risks remain if you grant full access.

OpenAI rolls out GPT-6 Astra to most paying users

OpenAI has updated its ChatGPT Images feature to version 2.5, adding several new editing tools and speeding up image generation. You can now remove backgrounds, resize images to preset dimensions, erase items by brushing over them, and use markup and comment functions directly from a new Edit toolbar. According to TechRadar, the features are available in both web and app versions, though OpenAI hasn't formally announced the rollout yet.
