LFM2.5-350M hits 29.7% on IFStruct after light tuning

The Hugging Face team showed you can boost the small-ish LFM2.5-350M AI model’s ability to deliver well-formatted outputs (schema compliance) by fine-tuning it with just 500 examples and 100 training steps. The benchmark score for structured output jumped from 22.6% to 29.7%. All this runs on free cloud GPUs. They’re not claiming state-of-the-art, but it’s clear: careful tweaks can level up smaller models.

Why it mattersMany real-world applications need AI to follow strict formatting, not just be smart. This work shows you don’t need a huge model—or budget—to improve reliability at that crucial task.
