Stripe reports elevated fraud attempts at AI startups

Stripe says AI startups using its platform have experienced much higher rates of attempted fraud compared to other startups. In Q3 2025, attempted transaction fraud against AI startups was 4.3 times higher than the average, before dropping to 2.6 times by Q1 2026 as fraud prevention adapted. There was also a 40% rise in multi-account abuse at AI subscription firms within six months.
