Amazon ends use of NDAs for new data center projects
Amazon says it's no longer requiring nondisclosure agreements when working with local officials on new data center projects. The shift comes after mounting criticism that these secret deals kept communities in the dark about issues like energy and water use. Over 100 local data center moratoriums are now under consideration. Amazon also pledged $1 billion for local tech education and sustainability efforts over five years.
- Amazon will no longer use NDAs with local officials
- Previous NDAs often hid project details from the public
- More than 100 moratoriums on data centers are in debate
- Amazon committed $1B to local training and efficiency
