Google funds Chilean canal upgrade for water efficiency
Google is putting $1.2 million into lining a key irrigation canal in central Chile, aiming to cut water loss from leaks along a 2.5-kilometer stretch near Santiago. The project should help keep much more water available for farms by trapping less in the soil. Google expects these changes to conserve as much as 7.4 million cubic meters of water per year and improve water quality as well.
