Marvel's failed Blade film funds new Mahershala Ali thriller

Marvel's abandoned Blade reboot wound up financing something else: actor Mahershala Ali used his year of sword training—paid for by Marvel—for his role in Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, a new hitman film with director Bassam Tariq. The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Ali thanked Marvel, saying, “We couldn’t have afforded to…do this film” otherwise.

Why it mattersA failed major studio project just bankrolled a more original film, shifting resources from a shelved superhero property into something less predictable. Ali won’t return to Blade—he’s officially moved on.

Siri code shows Apple could swap in third-party AI brains

Developer findings show Apple has built the next Siri to let third-party AI models, like ChatGPT and Claude, handle user requests—sometimes instead of Apple’s own AI. Hidden features in the upcoming iOS and macOS let users pick an outside AI to answer questions and, in some cases, access Apple system features. For now, this capability isn’t available to the public, but it’s in the final versions launching today.
