Xbox forms XP division for movies, merchandise, and events
Xbox has launched XP, a new division dedicated to turning its video game franchises into movies, TV series, merchandise, live events, and theme park attractions. The company said XP unifies its entertainment, licensing, live experiences, and brand partnerships under one banner. XP will be led by Kayleen Walters, an executive producer for the Minecraft movie, while Mojang, the Minecraft studio, gets a new chief executive. The move follows revenue declines and aims to extend Xbox’s brands beyond gaming.
