AI accelerates discovery of high-risk software vulnerabilities
Google’s Threat Intelligence Group reported that monthly vulnerability disclosures have doubled this year, increasing from 5,045 in January to 10,740 in August. The group found that AI is accelerating not just the rate but also the severity of security flaws, with a higher proportion enabling remote code execution. Exploited vulnerabilities and attempted attacks have nearly doubled as well, while growth in zero-day exploitation was modest.

- AI found higher-risk and RCE vulnerabilities
- Monthly exploited vulnerabilities nearly doubled
- Zero-day exploitation saw only slight overall growth
