Google patches Chrome zero-day actively exploited
Google has fixed a Chrome vulnerability that was already being exploited, tracked as CVE-2026-87491. The bug is found in Chrome's V8 engine and allows remote attackers to run code within the browser sandbox via a specially crafted HTML page. The issue has been resolved in the latest Chrome update, which covers 230 security flaws. Google released limited details while the patch is being rolled out.

Liquid Network exploit creates $320 million in unbacked bitcoin
Attackers exploited a software bug in Blockstream's Liquid Network, a Bitcoin sidechain, creating about 4,000 unbacked Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC) and withdrawing $320 million. The attackers identified themselves as white hat hackers and have returned most funds, retaining around $47 million. According to Blockstream, the incident did not involve compromised multisig keys but was caused by a vulnerability in recent node software.
Malicious gaming YouTube channels spread malware to thousands
Palo Alto Networks' Unit 42 discovered a large cybercrime operation that used popular gaming YouTube channels and SEO manipulation to distribute malware. The campaign, identified as CL-CRI-1171, mainly affected young gamers and also reached corporate and government systems. At least 11 YouTube channels with hundreds of thousands of followers were involved before being terminated. The attackers delivered multiple malware strains using a custom loader, with more than 10,000 samples identified.
