Malicious npm package hid attack in runtime code
A package called indexed-btree was removed from npm after researchers found it concealed malicious code within application logic, bypassing standard security checks. The package, posing as a legitimate utility, was reportedly downloaded millions of times and enabled attackers to profit through cryptocurrency. The malware fingerprinted infected systems, sent data to messaging platforms, and downloaded further payloads. Other related packages have also been taken offline.

Security startup Hacktron exploits vulnerability in OpenAI forum

The "Daybreak for Frontline Defenders" initiative aims to help these sectors strengthen their defenses as AI-driven cyberattacks become more advanced. OpenAI says it will expand the program to partner countries in the coming weeks.
