Red Hat outlines Microsoft SQL Server migration options
Red Hat is pitching three main ways for companies to update Microsoft SQL Server setups: run it on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, move existing virtual machines to OpenShift Virtualization, or switch to containerized deployments on OpenShift. Red Hat says you can mix and match these approaches and aren’t locked in. All options keep Microsoft support for SQL Server, so you don't have to do a full overhaul overnight.

Red Hat adds NVIDIA BlueField to OpenShift
Red Hat OpenShift will now support NVIDIA BlueField hardware, aiming to make data centers faster by letting specialized cards take on tasks usually handled by main processors. By moving network traffic management and security enforcement off CPUs and onto BlueField, businesses can free up computing power for core applications and AI tasks. SAP addresses critical security flaw in core software
SAP has released a patch for a maximum severity vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2026-44756, affecting the SAP kernel. Security researchers at Onapsis say over 10,000 internet-exposed SAP systems could be at risk. The flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to send crafted network requests that could let them execute arbitrary operating system commands with administrative privileges. There are currently no reports of active exploitation, but experts recommend immediate patching.
Google Cloud SQL Server Migration Skips User Logins
If you migrate a SQL Server database to Google Cloud SQL using their Database Migration Service, your data goes over—but user logins don’t. That’s on purpose, says Google: DMS deliberately doesn’t copy server logins for security and compliance reasons. If you want your applications to connect, you’ll have to migrate those logins manually with standard SQL Server tools.
Google Data Cloud adds new AI and analytics tools
Google just launched several new features for its Data Cloud. BigQuery now supports stateful processing in streaming queries, letting you do things like rolling averages in real time (currently in preview). There’s also a ready-to-use synthetic data generator for Managed Kafka, now generally available. And Lakehouse managed tables for Apache Iceberg are in preview, promising easier data management and cross-tool compatibility. Updates to Dataflow pipelines are also rolling out.
