IonQ speeds up quantum error correction by up to 74x
IonQ researchers say they've managed to make fault-tolerant quantum gate operations up to 74 times faster using a new joint measurement technique for error correction. The system, which uses quantum Low-Density Parity-Check codes and improved scheduling, reduces the lag usually caused by correcting errors in closely packed quantum bits. IonQ’s protocols are already being built into its hardware designs targeting encryption-breaking uses.
- IonQ's method speeds Clifford operations up to 74 times
- Toffoli gate execution accelerated up to 5-fold
- Joint measurements cut latency for logical qubits
- No increase in physical qubit count required
- System integrated into IonQ's hardware roadmaps
