Researchers 3D print Mars-ready concrete from yeast and gelatin
Scientists have figured out how to make building material for Mars using pig-derived gelatin, engineered yeast, and the planet’s own sand. The mixture, freeze-dried by Mars’ cold and low air pressure, produces low-grade concrete strong enough to support a two-story house on Earth. The team has demonstrated 3D printing small structures in a Mars simulation and says you can recycle the material indefinitely—just keep the yeast alive.
