AI tool boosts learning for patent lawyers in field study
A three-month Google study gave 133 patent lawyers early access to an AI drafting assistant now in Gemini Notebook. Lawyers with the tool outperformed their peers, showing a 10 to 11-percentile jump in quality scores when drafting patents. The improvements remained consistent over time, with AI users producing fewer poor drafts and more strong ones. Performance gains held even after several months of real-world use.
