Anthropic loosens, but limits, Claude cyber tools for defenders
Anthropic is updating its Cyber Verification Program for the Claude AI chatbot, splitting access into three tiers based on how each user plans to use the tool for cybersecurity. The least restricted tier now includes capabilities from Project Glasswing, but most security teams will still face strict limits. Anthropic says the broadest-access 'Defense' tier blocked nearly all offensive tests—46 out of 50—meaning defenders will often hit walls trying to use advanced features.
- CVP now has three use-case-based access tiers
- Project Glasswing added to least-restricted tier
- Defense Access tier blocked 46 of 50 offensive tests
