Google debuts Earth AI tools for disease tracking
Google has introduced new AI-powered tools in Google Earth designed to help public health officials predict and respond to disease outbreaks. Working with partners like the World Health Organization, Google’s prototypes use satellite data, mobility patterns, and large AI models to identify at-risk areas and populations. In a real-world test during the Ebola outbreak in Congo, the system mapped 48 exposed settlements and flagged over 45,500 people potentially at risk in minutes.
