Google testing expanded Gemini access on Macs
Google is quietly testing a feature that could let its Gemini AI interact with any file, app, and some web actions on Macs—no need for you to manually grant permission each time. A hidden setting in the Gemini Desktop app would allow the AI to read, edit, or even delete files outside its usual folders, if enabled. This isn’t available yet, and Google hasn’t officially confirmed the launch.
- Hidden options found in Gemini Desktop for Mac
- AI could access and modify any file if enabled
- Actions may occur without repeated user permission
- Sensitive actions like purchases still require confirmation
- No public launch date or model details yet
