India's tech sector faces over 50% GenAI, cloud talent gap
A new report finds that India’s technology industry faces a talent shortage of 53-60% in Generative AI and cloud computing roles. Only about 16% of IT professionals in India have AI skills, according to TeamLease Digital’s analysis. Salary premiums are shifting toward AI-core and product-critical engineering roles, with GenAI developer pay nearly double that of AI-support positions after several years. Demand for GenAI roles alone is expected to top one million by 2026.
