OpenAI trials visual ads in ChatGPT's image generator
OpenAI will start testing visual ads in ChatGPT this month, showing paid product images while users generate AI images. The initial trial is limited to U.S. users and a select group of advertisers. These ads, which stay separate from the images you generate, will be clearly labeled and won't influence ChatGPT's responses. OpenAI is adding conversion tracking tools but says ad partners won't access your private chats.
- Visual ads appear during AI image generation
- Initial rollout targets U.S. users only
- Ads will be labeled and kept apart from content
- Conversion tracking tools integrated for advertisers
- Independent partners assess brand safety, no chat access
