Google Cloud touts rapid growth and AI deals
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian told a Goldman Sachs tech conference that the company now has 17 product lines making over $1 billion each. He said Google Cloud has more than 300 customers with $100 million-plus commitments and saw both the number and size of $100 million to $1 billion deals rise more than twofold compared to last quarter and last year. AI infrastructure contracts are mostly five years.

Nvidia agrees to acquire Hugging Face for $12.9 billion

Apple unveils foldable iPhone and new CEO Wednesday
Apple plans to announce its first foldable iPhone at an event this Wednesday, September 9, at 10 a.m. Pacific. The company is also expected to show the iPhone 18 Pro line, new Apple Watches, and updated AirPods. It’s the first launch event with John Ternus as CEO, replacing Tim Cook, who’ll stay on as Executive Chair. Ternus told staff the upcoming launch will be “phenomenal.”
Apple raises iPhone prices by $100 across current models
Apple has bumped up the prices of its entire current iPhone lineup by $100. The iPhone 17 now starts at $899, the iPhone Air begins at $1,099, the iPhone 17e is $699, and the iPhone 16 moves to $799. This is happening alongside the launch of pricier iPhone 18 Pro models. Apple says supply chain costs for memory and storage are driving the price increases.
