Oracle’s Wisconsin AI campus faces years-long power grid delays
Oracle’s huge AI data center campus in Wisconsin, meant to draw up to 1.3 gigawatts of power, is facing major delays connecting to the grid after state regulators tossed out a nearly year-long application review. Project Lighthouse, run by Vantage for Oracle, will have buildings ready before electricity arrives, with grid approval now back to square one after last-minute changes and paperwork resets. Don’t expect customer operations before 2027.
- Regulators restarted grid connection review from scratch
- Over 500 new documents added late in process
- First phase could only deliver part of needed power
- Campus building construction continues without power
- Customer service pushed past 2027
