Reddit to end RSS feeds and public API access

Reddit will stop supporting RSS feeds on November 13, citing abuse from large-scale scraping and unauthorized AI use. The company also said public access to its API will end by March 2027, requiring commercial agreements for data use beyond that point. Moderators are advised to migrate alert workflows to Discord Relay Devvit, but users outside moderation roles get no alternative. Reddit attributes the move to protecting its data from unauthorized access.

Why it mattersThe end of RSS and public API access will cut off open, programmatic ways to access Reddit's content, reducing third-party tool compatibility and limiting research and social listening without paid agreements. The shift reflects Reddit's strategy to protect and monetize its data amid growing AI licensing deals.
