Sony transfers over 400 XR patents to Meta
Sony has sold more than 400 of its patents related to virtual, augmented, and mixed reality headsets to Meta. The transfer covers 43 U.S. patents identified since June, out of around 180 U.S. and 239 international patents changing hands. The move suggests Sony is stepping back from its VR ambitions, casting doubt on a follow-up to its PlayStation VR2 headset.
