Valve expands frame rate data for Steam developers
Valve now gives game developers publishing on Steam access to detailed, anonymized frame rate data from Steam Deck players. This update shows the percentage of time a game runs at different frame rates, making it easier for developers to spot and fix performance issues. The expansion builds on previous tools that included Steam Deck feedback and user system specs. For now, it’s Steam Deck-only, but Valve hints more hardware will follow.
- Steam now reports detailed frame rate distribution data
- Focus is on the Steam Deck, Valve's handheld device
- Developers gain visibility into real-world game performance
- Data is anonymized and shown as averages and distributions
- Valve may expand support to more hardware in the future
