Nvidia and Cisco announce ultra-dense 400Gb/s USFP optical modules
Nvidia and Cisco unveiled a new optical module called USFP, designed to deliver 400Gb/s per lane and up to 12.8Tb/s of network capacity. The module fits the existing OSFP footprint but quadruples bandwidth density and boosts power efficiency over current 200Gb/s technology. With USFP, AI data centers can scale up connections and compute power without adding extra network layers or overhauling infrastructure.
- USFP offers 400Gb/s per lane, 12.8Tb/s total
- Same size as OSFP modules, 4x bandwidth density
- 1.3x more power efficient than 200Gb/s optics
- Lets AI data centers connect more systems per switch
- Nvidia and Cisco are partnering with TE Connectivity, Amphenol
