FBI Removes Contractor After Breach Exposes Employee Data
The FBI has dismissed an Accenture contractor following a breach tied to the ShinyHunters group that resulted in the theft of personal information belonging to thousands of FBI employees. Officials said the breach stemmed from the contractor’s failure to apply a required security patch to a third-party platform, reportedly Oracle PeopleSoft, used for FBI job applications. The agency says it has taken steps to mitigate risk and continues its investigation.
