Google promotes passkeys as a password alternative
Google is highlighting passkeys as a faster and safer alternative to traditional passwords for its accounts. Users can now set up passkeys—using fingerprints, face scans, or device PINs—which store login credentials locally and are less vulnerable to phishing. Biometric data remains on the user's device and is not shared with Google. The announcement comes during Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
