Outlook will block MSIX file attachments in November
Microsoft will begin blocking .msix and .msixbundle attachments in Outlook on the web and the new Outlook for Windows starting in November. The move aims to reduce the risk of malware delivered through these application package files. Organizations that still require these formats must explicitly allow them before the rollout. Most users are unlikely to notice changes, as these file types are not widely used.
- Blocking begins early November, completes by mid-November
- .msix and .msixbundle used for app installation
- Admins can allow these attachments if needed
- Affects New Outlook and Outlook Web in Exchange Online
