Surfshark announces post-quantum secure VPN on Apple devices
Surfshark says its WireGuard VPN now uses both post-quantum encryption and authentication, making it fully resistant to potential quantum computer attacks—at least on iOS and macOS for now. The update adds certificate authentication with ML-DSA, building on earlier post-quantum encryption. Surfshark claims it's among the first VPNs to finish this three-part upgrade, a move not yet matched in major consumer apps by Apple or Microsoft.
- WireGuard on iOS/macOS now fully post-quantum secure
- Adds ML-DSA authentication to previous ML-KEM encryption
- Other major companies' apps lack this level of protection
- More platform support planned for the future
