Vietnamese man charged in $16 million crypto fraud case
U.S. authorities charged a Vietnamese man with money laundering for allegedly stealing $16 million in cryptocurrency from a single victim through a 'pig butchering' scam. Trung Nguyen Van was arrested in California while attempting to leave the country. Prosecutors say his wallets received over $53 million from multiple fraud schemes between 2018 and 2024, including at least $24 million traced to similar scams.
