Microsoft disables EWS for Mac Mail, affecting 365 accounts
Microsoft has started turning off Exchange Web Services (EWS) in Exchange Online, which Mac Mail and Calendar apps use to sync with Microsoft 365 work accounts. The change, part of a phased shutdown, could cause syncing failures for many users. This does not affect organizations that kept EWS enabled, nor does it impact on-premise Exchange or iOS devices. Apple is working on a software update for future compatibility.
- EWS now disabled by default in Exchange Online
- Mac Mail app may lose Microsoft 365 syncing
- Phased rollout, so timing varies by user
- Apple update for Microsoft Graph support not released
- No impact to iOS or on-premise Exchange users
