Pontes launches to settle digital securities in central bank money
A new service called Pontes has launched in Europe, allowing digital securities traded on distributed ledger platforms to be settled in central bank money through TARGET Services. Four infrastructure providers, including Axiology, Clearstream, SWIAT, and Cashlink, are participating in the initial rollout. Pontes is the first system in Europe to connect digital capital market transactions to central bank euro settlements, aiming to reduce risks associated with stablecoins for high-value payments.
