QuantLase tests photonic chip on financial predictions
QuantLase says it ran financial market data through its experimental light-based computing platform, called the Photonic Intelligence Processing Unit (PIPU). The hardware tackled datasets from companies like Apple, Amazon, and JPMorgan Chase, generating predictions beyond input data. But QuantLase didn't share numbers backing up an edge over standard AI or digital simulations, and broader access is on hold pending more tests.
- Used data from seven major financial firms
- Platform combines optical processing with GPUs
- No performance advantage over AI is claimed yet
- Broader access will follow further engineering
