Tech workers let ChatGPT steer a Toyota Corolla
Three Bay Area tech workers rigged up a Toyota Corolla to test if large language models like ChatGPT could drive a real car, not just simulate it. Using a laptop and an aftermarket hardware kit to control the car in a San Francisco parking lot, they let LLMs—including GPT-6 Astra and others—navigate a cone course. Only Astra managed to finish, after lots of trial and error. The goal: challenge what AI models can do beyond text.
