ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 user fixes USB and audio issues
A user of the ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 gaming laptop resolved ongoing USB disconnections and audio crackling by addressing overheating in the system's Platform Controller Hub (PCH). By applying thermal putty to improve heat transfer, the user reduced PCH temperatures from over 100°C to around 80°C, which stopped the connectivity and audio issues. The fix followed unsuccessful attempts with software and accessory troubleshooting.
- User endured weeks of USB and audio problems
- Thermal putty reduced PCH temperature by over 20°C
