Qualcomm adds Wi-Fi to tiny new sound chip for earbuds
Qualcomm just unveiled the Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2 chip, the first of its kind to add Wi-Fi 6E directly into a chip small enough for wireless earbuds and audio glasses. Unlike last year’s version, this one doesn’t need a separate Wi-Fi chip. It can stream high-res, lossless audio—up to 24-bit/192kHz—and uses less power and space than before. Qualcomm says it’s working with HP, Bose, and Cleer, but no consumer products named yet.

Apple reportedly accepted higher costs due to memory parts shortages but chose not to start even higher, as earlier rumors suggested.
