Indie CEO says GTA 6 needs outsized sales to be viable
Blazej Zywiczynski, CEO of startup Fairy Mount Games, argued in an interview that Grand Theft Auto 6's massive budget means Rockstar would need to sell a copy to nearly every PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series owner for a fivefold return, a nearly impossible benchmark. By contrast, Zywiczynski claims his indie studio needs only about 30,000 sales for their debut game to break through, underlining the financial gulf between indie and blockbuster game launches.
- Rockstar's GTA 6 faces high sales targets for ROI
- Fairy Mount aims for 30,000 sales for success
- Both games launch the same day, but target different audiences
- GTA 6 not on Steam at launch, giving indies a chance
