OSCP raises $6 million Series A for post-GPS sensors
One Silicon Chip Photonics (OSCP), a Montreal startup making navigation sensors that don't rely on GPS, just closed a $6 million Series A funding round. Their photonic gyroscopes and compact inertial measurement units (IMUs) aim to guide autonomous vehicles and robots in places where GPS signals fail — from dense cities to war zones. The new funding, led by New Science Ventures, will help them commercialize and further shrink their chip-based products.
- OSCP raised $6 million USD in Series A funding
- Main product: tiny, precise photonic gyroscopes and IMUs
- Devices work when GPS signals are blocked or degraded
- Matching accuracy of larger, costlier devices in a matchbox size
- Focus remains on Canadian and European markets for now
