Amazon launches open-source Strands Decider 2B model
Amazon Web Services has released Strands Decider 2B, a free and open-source AI model designed for decision tasks where you pick between pre-set options. Unlike the big chatbots that generate language, Strands Decider quickly ranks given answers, outputs a confidence score, and runs locally. AWS says it built this to meet customer needs for faster, cheaper automation, inspired by the popular Jev decision model.
- Open-source, downloadable, can run on local machines
- Picks between preset answers, not free-form text
- Outputs a confidence score for its decisions
- Built from Qwen3.5-2B model, with custom head
- AWS offering inspired by TypeSafe’s Jev model
