Nvidia details how its AI factories maximize efficiency
Nvidia is touting its AI factory systems as both highly efficient and long-lasting. According to the company, these data centers—built in megawatt increments at around $60 million per megawatt—use a tightly integrated hardware and software stack to deliver more AI computation for the same power. Nvidia claims its latest systems, like the Vera Rubin NVL72, achieve up to 30 times more output per megawatt, and dramatically lower costs per AI task, than their last generation.
- Each AI factory megawatt costs about $60 million
- Vera Rubin NVL72 delivers 30x output per megawatt vs. previous gen
- System design optimizes both hardware and software
- Older GPUs like Nvidia’s A100 still earn revenue
- Cheaper compute creates more AI demand overall
