Canada proposes Crown corporation for defence procurement
Canada is planning to move its military procurement process to a new Crown corporation, aiming to speed up and simplify how it buys defence technology and equipment. Bill C-40, just tabled in Parliament, would grant the new Defence Investment Agency more independence and authority to manage contracts and investments, reporting to a dedicated minister. Oversight will shift away from the procurement Ombudsman and rest with a government minister.
