AMD CEO promises big chip supply boost in 2027
AMD says it will significantly ramp up chip production in 2027 to tackle soaring demand, especially from companies seeking processors for artificial intelligence. CEO Lisa Su confirmed that AMD is planning supply chain expansion years in advance and is working closely with major partners like TSMC and memory suppliers Samsung and SK Hynix. The exact size of the increase isn't public yet, but Su called out CPUs as well as AI chips.
- AMD will expand chip supply substantially in 2027
- Planning now happens three to five years ahead
- Ramping depends on new wafer and packaging capacity
- Partners include TSMC, Samsung, Foxconn and others
- Rise in demand covers both CPUs and AI accelerators
