Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL now queries Iceberg, Parquet data lakes
Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL just rolled out a feature that lets you run SQL queries on both your live operational data and big-data files stored in formats like Apache Iceberg and Parquet, without needing to copy or transform the data first. This is possible because Aurora now has DuckDB built in, so you can query data in Amazon S3 and AWS Glue Data Catalog directly from PostgreSQL, skipping the usual data duplication headaches.
- Aurora PostgreSQL now embeds DuckDB engine
- Query S3-stored Parquet, Iceberg data from PostgreSQL
- No ETL or data duplication required
- Supports major Aurora PostgreSQL versions 17.11, 18.6+
- Works with AWS Glue Data Catalog and S3 tables
