Microsoft sets end date for updates on old Windows versions
Microsoft says Windows PCs running unsupported versions will stop getting security updates after certificate changes in May and June 2027. If you want updates after that, you’ll need to upgrade to a supported version before those dates. Supported Windows devices just need to keep installing monthly updates; outdated ones will lose access to Windows Update entirely. Devices using enterprise update tools aren’t affected.
- Certificates expire May 17 and June 19, 2027
- Unsupported Windows lose updates after those dates
- Supported devices need specific updates to stay eligible
- Enterprise WSUS-managed devices not affected
