Cisco showcases prototypes for quantum network automation
Cisco has released research prototypes for automating quantum network operations: a Quantum Network Controller and a new version of its Network-Aware Quantum Compiler. The controller manages multi-vendor hardware and schedule connections, while the compiler splits tasks among quantum processors and handles error correction. In a New York City field test, the software coordinated several types of quantum hardware across 11 miles of commercial fiber, maintaining over 99% fidelity at room temperature.
- Quantum Network Controller manages hardware and connections
- Compiler splits tasks and manages error correction
- Achieved over 99% polarization fidelity in field test
- Operated on hardware from multiple vendors
- Both products are research prototypes, not for commercial use
