Custom PlayStation 5 Emulator Fork Delivers Big Speed Boost
A developer's custom version of the KyTyPS5 PlayStation 5 emulator now runs Astro Bot up to five times faster than the original software in some parts of the game. This fork fixes key visual glitches and boosts gameplay frame rates from about 11 to 30–60 FPS in the intro level. The build is up for testing on GitHub. Other PS5 games, like Marvel’s Wolverine, are just starting to launch in emulation, though still at unplayable speeds.
- Astro Bot now plays at 30–60 FPS in the custom fork
- Speed increases of 3–5x seen over original emulator version
- Visual rendering issues fixed in early gameplay areas
- Marvel's Wolverine now boots but is not yet playable
- Fork available on GitHub for public testing
